Getting ready for the Bean Fest!!!

It's gonna be another late night at the Oden house!  Maybe we work well under pressure, maybe we wait till the last minute, maybe we have three small children 4 and under and have only small amounts of time....however I put it, I know that I only have a few more days to get all this stuff done!! Agh!  But, I know it will all come together and will be a blast!  And, praise God, the weather is supposed to be really nice this weekend!  ...So, I say if you need something to do, you like crafty stuff, you like beans and outhouse races, or all of the above, you should come check us out in MTN. VIEW, AR  FOR THE BEAN FEST, THIS WEEKEND, OCT. 28-31ST.

Back to more stuff, you know you love them, those cutsie little signs that make such a statement inside or out of your home, office, wherever!  So, here's a few I've been working on.  If you like something, let me know @ khristyoden@yahoo.com  .   Thanks and Have a Blessed Week!

Benches, Tables, and More, ...oh my!

What a wonderful day it's been already!  I'm so thankful for the beautiful fall weather that God has given us!  The boys and I had lunch outside and it was so peaceful, which brings me to telling you about one of our creations, the shabby chic picnic table.
Why not give your patio a less factory made, more handmade look!  This table is completely handmade, all wooden with a custom-painted finish,....If you're interested in one of these, email me : khristyoden@yahoo.com  (Please no spam, I do report.)
Okay, so on to the next creation ...This cutsie little bench is great for using as a decorative piece on your front porch or can be painted or stained to use inside, however you choose.
God bless!  And, have a wonderful day!
Verse for the day:  "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven."

Checkers anyone?

I always look forward to the weekends because Lance is here and we can do projects!  Today, our focus was getting ready for the upcoming craft fair/festival in Mtn.View.  You know, the Bean Fest!  Get your fill of crafts, music, and beans.  You might even be making your own music on the way home, heehee!
So, today was about checker boards.  I have a thing for checkers.  First of all, I am a champion checker player and skunk Lance just about every time!  But, really, some of my fondest childhood memories are of playing games with my grandfather, "Papaw".  Our favorites were checkers and uno.  I rarely remember a visit without playing some kind of board game.  Board games are such good family time!  And, Lance and I like to make things that promote the family, which we are hugely passionate about.
So, back to the checkerboards.  These boards are made of solid oak wood.  Lance cut them and sanded them, then I did my painting thing.  And, yes, there will be checkers with them, but they are wooden too, and I still need to paint them.  (Will post pics of final product later).  The idea for this little contraption is that it's decorative and useful.  You hang it on your wall and get it down when you want to play.  Everything is handpainted.  If you're interested, they are $60 plus S&H.  Hope you like!

new at this thing

okay, so here goes!  blogging!  agh!  so many questions, so little time, yes, definately so little time.  but, hey i like to write and this can be a little inch of downtime to my busy and beautiful life.

so, lance and i have decided to start this business, "the painted nest".  i came up with the name, catchy huh?!  i figured since i've been painting and drawing since, well i can't remember and he's been woodworking since way back when, why not do something with it!  so, i'm gonna be posting stuff we do and if anything on here tickles your fancy, just let me know, and we'll go from there.
